Julie Jensen – Playwright
Creative
Julie Jensen’s award-winning works for theatre have been performed in venues across America and Europe, yet she firmly believes that writers must write about the places they know. She was born and raised in the small town of Beaver, Utah, which was settled by mormons in 1856. Julie has been writing plays since she was nine years old. She has now written more plays than Shakespeare, virtually all of them have been professionally produced, and more than a dozen have been published. Her work includes a popular book, “Playwriting: Brief and Brilliant” (Smith & Kraus), a staple in schools of performing arts, and with everyone else interested in writing a play. She has taught playwriting New York City, Northern California, Detroit, and South Bend Indiana, Las Vegas, and Hollywood, where she worked as a writer. She was Resident Playwright at the Salt Lake Acting Company, where she now makes her home.
SPI based the bulk of her site on her plays, which are selectable by a click or tap on a corresponding playbill. When selected, visitors will see more playbills, a description of the play, its development, awards, production, publications, and who they may contact, e.g., her agent, in New York. SPI also designed her logo.
