Background: What is the third leading cause of death in the United States? The answer, just after heart disease and cancer, is preventable medical errors. One thousand people will die today as a result of preventable medical errors, which costs $1,500,000,000 annually. Doctors don’t want you to know about that. To combat this shocking statistic, a group of renowned physicians, nurses, and healthcare experts came together with real world solutions to form OR Dx + Rx: Solutions for Surgical Safety.

Approach: SPI created a site based on three converging rings, surgery, nursing, and anesthesia, coming together to emphasize quality. In addition, we created several unique icons, matched with blog articles by experts in the field, including the head of surgery at MassGeneral, Ph.D level nurses, acclaimed anesthesiologists, and more, to form an extensive background on the issues and solutions regarding perioperative safety. The site was targeted primarily for top hospital administrators and physicians, therefore, we designed it for the direct display of varifiable facts.
