Daynes Music Archive. At 164 years, Daynes Music was the oldest continually run family business in the State of Utah, and one of the oldest family businesses in America. They were the first Steinway piano dealership west of New York (1873), and the Nation’s second oldest music store, two years “younger” than Steinert’s of Boston. The Daynes family had also maintained a distinguished tradition going back over 100 years for nurturing the musical arts and music education, including the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, the Utah Opera, the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, Title 1 elementary music education programs, and more. SPI was asked to develop the first comprehensive web presence for Daynes Music, which also included videos, email newsletters, trade show and print graphics. The original site was meticulously coded in HTML.

To celebrate Daynes Music’s 150th Anniversary, SPI upgraded their site, coded from the ground up in WordPress. In addition, the WordPress administrative backend enabled Daynes Music staffers to maintain portions of the site themselves. As part of the sesquicentennial, SPI designed and cast a commemorative medallion, and created a video featuring Skip Daynes, President.
