Rod here. Dick Dale has always been one of my guitar heroes. While attending a music convention in Anaheim, CA a few years ago, I saw Dick and his friend, a registered nurse, who has taken care of him through illness and cancer. We had a great conversation, and they posed for this lucky shot. You can see the gleam in his eyes, but at the time, Dick was still on the mend. I didn’t “heal” him (erase the wrinkles, etc.); I showed him the respect he deserves, an icon of surfer culture, worldwide.
