Project Description

Essex National Heritage Area

The Essex National Heritage Area (ENHA) is a non-profit organization that features the unique character of Essex County, MA; the thousands of historic, cultural, and natural places that were crucial in shaping our Nation; the places that led to this region’s designation as a National Heritage Area by an act of Congress in 1996; the places that make Essex County like nowhere else. SPI developed ENHA’s first web presence, based on three historic “trails” through the area, maritime, early settlers, and industrial. Winner of the 1999 Massachusetts Interactive Council’s First Prize for Design and Excellence, the ENHA site featured hundreds of sites, each with it’s own page, maps, quizzes, newsletters, and more.
